How to fix Error 1601

I'm trying to update my quickbooks and I keep getting this error message and can't get past it.  I've cleared my cache so what else can I do now.

Which QB Desktop year version do you run?

It is the 2023.  I last updated it in April 2023.  I still can't get into it without passing the update that keeps giving me the error code 1601.

  1. Open the Windows Start menu. Search for “Control Panel”, then open Control Panel.
  2. Select Programs and Features or Uninstall a Program.
  3. From the list of programs, select your version of QuickBooks Desktop you want to remove.
  4. Select Uninstall/Change, Remove and then Next. 
  5. If you don’t see this option, sign out and sign back in to Windows as an admin (or a user with admin rights).

How long should it take to uninstall?  I've been trying for hours.

Hello, Lake2375. Allow me to provide some insights about uninstalling QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to address the error code you're getting.

 

The duration of the uninstallation process varies depending on your file size and connection. The bigger your company data is, the longer it takes to uninstall the application. You can wait for a few minutes to remove QuickBooks successfully. 

 

Once done, install QuickBooks Desktop. When you reinstall, QuickBooks will automatically install new folders and rename your old ones.

 

If you're still stuck with uninstalling QBDT, I suggest contacting support for additional assistance regarding the process. From there, our designated team can also delve into the error code you're getting and conduct necessary investigations to fix the issue.

 

  1. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us from the Help menu.
  2. Click on Contact Us.
  3. Enter a short description of your concern.

I down loaded Mac Sonoma and now I am dead in the water, I hope an upgrade to make my Quickbooks work again is a day away, please help quickly
