Hi there, @srlundy. Let me help you how to migrate your information or data from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

The first thing we'll do is to download and install QBDT on your computer. If you've already completed this, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Open your QBDT, then go to the File menu.
  2. Select Close Company. Ensure your QBDT is open while you complete the remaining steps.

Now, let's sign in to QBO and download the migration tool.

  1. Sign in to your QBO account you want to convert with a supported browser.
  2. Replace anything that is after the /app/ with exportqbodatatoqbdt
  3. Select Get Started on the Export Overview page.
  4. Choose the Download tool to download the QBDT migration tool.
  5. Once downloaded, launch the tool to install it and select Next.
  6. Accept the terms in the license agreement and select Next
  7. Choose Complete as the type of setup, then Next.
  8. Hit Install and Finish.

Proceed to Steps 3 and in this article to complete the process: Move your QBO to QBDT

Furthermore, you can check out these resources for in-depth information about the limitations when you convert your file and help you get started with QBDT:

Hi -- Will this work for QB Desktop 2021?

June 28, 2024

You'll need a supported version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), claire826. Let me discuss it in detail below.

The steps provided above will not work on a discontinued version of QBDT (QBDT 2021 and older). This is because the migration tool from QuickBooks Online requires online services to complete the process.

Aside from online services, please know that your access to QBDT Payroll Services, Online Backup, Online Banking, live technical support, and other services provided by the QBDT 2021 software are also discontinued. This also means you won't receive critical security updates. Thus, you'll want to upgrade your subscription to the supported version to continue exporting your data.

To learn more about our service discontinuation policy, kindly refer to this article: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy. This includes frequently asked questions about this policy.

Additionally, you can visit these resources if you want to upgrade your QBDT software to a supported version:

If there is anything else I can do for you about migrating data, please don't hesitate to add details below. I'll be there to help. Stay safe, and enjoy your day.
