Question

How to run a report that shows transaction data with all tags assigned to it?

We apply two or more tags to every transaction. How can I run a report that shows all the transaction data AND the tags assigned to it. E.g I want to see date, type, number, name, memo, account amount and tags assigned to each transaction. I want to be able to review all of our transactions and make sure the right tags are assigned without having to open every single transaction to check what tags are there. Please note that running a report by tag does NOT do this. Thanks.

Hi there, @kahandler-me-com. I'd be happy to guide you through the process of getting the report that you preferred.

The tags reports will show the variables that you've mentioned. Let me show you some things you can do by using the Customize tool.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and enter Transaction List by Tag Group Report in the search bar.
  2. Click on the Customize report button at the upper-right side of the page and choose the correct variables that you want to see. I've highlighted the things that you've wanted to show on your report and sections where you can see them:
    • Date - General section
    • Type - Filter section
    • Number - Filter section
    • Name - Filter section
    • Memo - Filter section
    • Account - Filter section
    • Amount - Filter section
    • Tags - Rows/Columns section (Tick the boxes beside the Tag groups)
  3. Select the Run report button.

I've added some screenshots for additional reference:

Moreover, if you need more details you can also modify it to the next level by exporting the reports to Excel in the future. To know more details on the steps, you can check out this article: Export your reports to Excel from QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you need anything else. Have a good one!

Unfortunately, that does Not do what i need.  The right hand column says "Tag Name" +1 (or +2 or +3) I need to see the names of ALL of the tags that are associated with a transaction.  This suggestion still requires me to open every transaction to see if the tags are assigned are correct.

Thanks for your prompt reply, kahandler-me-com.

In addition to the steps shared by my colleague MarsStephanieL, you'll want to add the Ungrouped Tags column from the Customize window. This will display all the tags assigned to a specific transaction.
