Question

I am connecting my bank account and when I sign into my bank and it asks me "Which accounts do you want to connect?" It will not let me click the green button to connect.

Hi there, Samantha.

Thank you for reaching out to us here on the Community forum. I'll help you with connecting your bank to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You need to select the bank account that you want to connect with QuickBooks before clicking on the Connect button. This tab might also be missing if there is lacking information provided. For better result, you can link your bank following these steps:

  1. Click on Banking or Transactions at the left pane.
  2. Go to the Banking page.
  3. Select Connect Account on the landing page if this is your first time connecting. Or select Add account or Link account if you've already created one.
  4. Search for your bank from the Connect an account window. For better results, you can enter the bank's URL from the field provided.
  5. Select your bank from the result.
  6. Hit Continue, then enter the username and password you use for your bank's website in the window.
  7. Follow the onscreen steps to connect. Your bank may require additional security checks. It may take a few minutes to connect.
  8. Select the bank or credit card accounts you want to connect (savings, checking, or credit card). You should see all of your available accounts at your bank or credit card company.
  9. For each account, you connect, select the matching account type from the dropdowns. These are accounts on your chart of accounts in QuickBooks.
  10. Set how far back you want to download transactions. Some banks let you download the last 90 days of transactions. Others can go back as far as 24 months.
  11. Tap on Connect.

If you can't link your bank, you can replicate the steps through a private window. In most cases, unusual behavior with QuickBooks happens due to the stocked cache on the regular browser you're using. To save you time, you can use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P

If it works fine, I recommend going back to your original browser and clear its cache to start fresh. Moreover, you can use another supported and up-to-date browser to narrow down the result and add Intuit as a trusted site to prevent your browser from potentially blocking site content.

On the other hand, it would be my pleasure to know the name of your financial institution. This way, I can gather enough information and check for open investigations.

Once your bank is connected to QuickBooks, the system will automatically download your transactions for you. From there, here's how you can review and categorize them.
