The video says, "To get started select COMPANY | EXPORT YOUR COMPANY FILE TO QB ONLINE. Well, that link is not under COMPANY its under FILE and it doesn't link to QB Online and ask me to select a company. I just purchased this account yesterday.

I can help you export your QuickBooks Desktop data to QuickBooks Online, jrobins@shipnat.

QuickBooks Desktop has multiple versions and the option how to import your company file also varies. You can follow these steps on how to import your QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise file to QuickBooks Online.

  1. Ensure that you logged in to your company file as admin.
  2. On your keyboard, press Ctrl 1 to open the Product Information window.
  3. Press Ctrl Q, then select OK to display the export window.
  4. On the export window, select Get started.
  5. Sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Online company.
  6. If you track inventory in QuickBooks Desktop, select Yes to bring them over, then specify the as of date.
  7. Click No if you want to set up new items later in QuickBooks Online.
  8. Select the Choose online company▼ dropdown, then select the QuickBooks Online company you want to be replaced by your company file.
  9. Click Continue.
  10. Enter “Agree” in the text field, then select Replace.
  11. Select Yes, go ahead and replace the data, then select Replace.

Make sure to keep QuickBooks Desktop running until the migration is done. Now, you'll use QuickBooks Online to put in new data and you'll keep your old info in QuickBooks Desktop where you left off.

For your future reference, there are some things you should do after converting your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

Please know that you're always welcome to comment below if you have other concerns or follow-up inquiries about exporting data. I'm just around to help. Take care.

@jrobins@shipnat.

Just to clarify, where is your company located? In the US or another country?
