Hello, everyone.

To provide some context, the Shopify team made a modification that disrupted our authentication process. We’ve been working with Shopify and our teams to resolve the matter, and we now have a resolution in place.

You will be able to connect Shopify Balance to QuickBooks Online now.

Welcome to the Community, Megan. I'm here to provide details about your Shopify Balance connection with QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To better understand your issue, could you please provide additional details? Did you encounter any error messages? It would also be helpful if you could attach a screenshot so that we can visualize the problem.

To isolate the issue further, I recommend contacting the Shopify Balance support team to confirm if they allow connection with QBO.

Additionally, you can refer to this article for the third-party apps you can use within the program: QBO Marketplace.

Please let me know if you need further assistance with your QBO integrations. I'm always here to help. Have a great day!

I'm having the same issue here. After going through the authentication process in the window that pops up, the page loads blank. Inspecting the page source, it is a QBO page that is failing, not a Shopify page. In your reply here, you mentioned contacting the Shopify Balance team to make sure they allow QBO connections. Why would it even show up in your list if it wasn't allowed?

Anyway, this needs to be escalated to your engineering team to figure out why the QBO OAuth process is failing after authenticating with Shopify. There are a lot of us who use the Shopify Balance account as our primary bank account as it is easy, integrated with our Shopify stores and doesn't require the ridiculous steps that classical business checking accounts still require in 2024.

Hello there, JSpiers667x.

It's our priority to address the same experience you have between QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Shopify Balance. I also understand that's it's so important to sort this out, especially since it's the primary bank account for many users.

I suggest reaching out directly to our Support Team. They can investigate why the QuickBooks OAuth process is failing after you've authenticated with Shopify. Here's how:

  1. Within your QBO account, go to Help in the upper-right corner.
  2. In the Search tab, click Contact us.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern.
  4. Click Continue.

To ensure a seamless experience when contacting us, I encourage you to visit this article. This will help have a smooth process during your call: Support Hours.

Visit anytime if you have more concerns about QuickBooks integration. Providing you with help and accurate information is my top priority.

@megan-ivyshaven-

You should have a 3rd party paid connector for a reliable solution.

We’re having the same issue. I’ve spoken to Shopify and they say it’s a Quickbooks issue while Quickbooks says it’s Shopify.

For us, the error shows after logging into Shopify Balance to connect in the intuit widget.

i'm having this issue also!

THIS is a determining factor if I continue to use QuickBooks or a competitor so I hope you fix it asap. I am switching to Shopify Balance completely as my checking because they don't charge fees like Chase Business Banking. I have 2 QuickBook accounts.

Thanks to everyone pushing to get QuickBooks to fix something that should absolutely be working. I refuse to pay a 3rd party and will just find a different platform. As someone mentioned, this is like not being able to connect any other bank like WellsFargo or any major credit card companies.

It still doesn't work but there seems to be a new message on the sign-in screen. I had already tried this several times. I would imagine this is a sign that Shopify and QB have been talking about this issue?

I do see that new info.  I also noticed the "immediate fail with a 571" behavior is different.  It takes several seconds to fail now, not immediate.  I still get the. blank dialog after logging in to Shopify.

I'm having the same issue quickbooks is not connecting to shopify balance.

I switched to xero - same problem there.

I tried finaloop - they use plaid to connect - it doesn't pull data pass September

I applied for funding and the lender use plaid to read data on my Shopify Balance they also ran into same issue they can read data pass September.

The problem is with Shopify Balance and there integration api.

Hi there, @storeowner123.

I appreciate what you've done so far in connecting Shopify balance to QuickBooks Online (QBO). If you weren't able to search for the Shopify app in QBO, that means it isn't supported yet. With this, I recommend contacting Shopify application and request to enable the integration.

Moreover, you may check API (Application Programming Interface) if they're currently having any system maintenance so we can ensure you'll be assessed with this issue.

In addition, you can refer to this article to learn more about disconnecting third-party apps to QBO: Disconnect an app and change subscription.

Please don't hesitate to reply to this thread should you need additional assistance connecting third-party applications to QBO. I'll be here to help you, 24/7.

@MAnneJ Did you even bother to read through the thread before posting a canned response? This has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH AN APP. It is an issue with a bank connection. I'm about to cancel my subscription and seek a refund. I'm not even using Shopify Balance anymore at this point, but these kinds of responses and the absolute lack of effort on Quickbooks' behalf to actually resolve this tells me that I don't want to do business with them.

If true it is resolved I am glad to hear it.  This went unresolved for at least SEVEN months.  Based on your description of the root cause, I can’t even begin to understand how it could have taken this long.

This failure to address the problem in a reasonable timeframe also cost me at least 2 work weeks of additional effort working around it.  Canceled my QBO because of it.  Not sure I want to jump back in to that frying pan again
