Question

I am trying to create a custom report in QBO but when I click "Save," I keep getting an error message: "We couldn't save your report. Try again." Why is this?

I want a report that will show me two columns:  Product/Service and Amount.  I cannot find one so I'm trying to create one.

I see you're experiencing difficulties when creating reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @keoki-liftee-kau

 

I'm here to help you run a report for Products and Services and Amounts in QBO.

 

We can generate a  Products and Services list report and then customize it to show the amount. Let me show you how: 

 

  1. In your QBO account, select the Reports menu.
  2. In the search field, type and choose the Products and Services list report.
  3. Click Customize.

  4. Under Rows/Columns, let's choose Product/Service and Price and Hit Run report.
  5. Once done,  Save customization

 

Then, concerning the error message you encountered, may I ask for a screenshot of it? This will help us determine what's the cause of the error and provide an exact resolution of your concern. 

 

If you cannot run a report with the steps provided above, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. There are times when the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors or unusual responses. 

 

Let's start accessing your account using a different or private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:

 

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

 

Once logged in, try to run that report. If it works, I recommend clearing your browser's cache. Doing so will remove the historical data and access QuickBooks with a clean slate. You can also switch to a different supported browser.

Upon completion, we can tailor the reports to your needs by customizing, applying filters, or formatting the layout to ensure the relevant data is accurately displayed in the desired locations.

Thank you for your help.  However, the Product/Service List will only get me halfway to the actual report I want.  The two columns I want in my report are:  1) Product/Service that have recorded Sales in the specified time period.  2) The total amount in sales for each Product/Service in the same specified time period.

 

I actually created a new report that I like but now my problem is I cannot get it to be added to a group.  When I created it I was not prompted with that option and when I click on Edit, I am not given that option.  I am given that option on every other custom report I have.  Just not that one.

 

Any ideas?
