Question

I categorize things in memberships/subscriptions and on the P&L it is showing up in "other business expenses." How do I get it to report the specific category on the P&L?

Hello, Toyo.

I'm here to clarify why the membership/subscription reflects in your profit and loss report as other business expense.

Membership/subscription expenses appearing as "other business expenses" in your Profit and Loss report is due to how QuickBooks Self-Employed expense categories correspond to IRS Schedule C categories. When a transaction is categorized, the program matches it to a line on your Schedule C. As membership/subscription expenses fall under the "Other business expenses" category on Schedule C, they will be reflected as such in your financial report.

If you wish to recategorize them to a different category, it is recommended to consult your accountant for further guidance.
