Question

I deleted reconciled transactions but don't want them back - created new ones. How can I reconcile now?

Hi,

New to this.  I deleted reconciled transactions, then reorganized all of my accounts, and recreated the transactions that were deleted.  My accounts are aligned, but now I cannot reconcile because of the transactions I deleted, but I don't want them back.  How can I force it in the reconciliation action?

Thanks,

Matt

You’ve finally visited us, Matt. I’m here to help every step of the way to ensure you can reconcile your account in QuickBooks.

Since the transactions were originally reconciled, you can manually mark them as Reconciled (R) in your account register. It makes your books accurate and matches your actual statement. Doing this also prevents them from showing up in your current reconciliation.

Here’s how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Select the Gear icon or Accounting menu.
  3. Go to Chart of accounts.
  4. Locate the account where deleted transactions belong.
  5. Click View register.
  6. Find the entries you recreated and select each.
  7. In the checkmark column, keep selecting the box until it shows “R."
  8. Tap Save after.

Please know that any changes to a completed reconciliation can affect your account balance. If you need to make adjustments in the future, I recommend unreconciling one transaction at a time to minimize the impact or reaching out to your accountant for assistance.
