I had set up QB to open without a password (in preferences). However, now QB asks for a password before opening the company file. How do I get rid of that requirement?

I had set up QB to not need a password to open a company file (in preferences) However, suddenly it asks for a password before it allows me to open my company file. How do I change it back so that I don't need a password like before?

If you have any customer credit card info in your company file you are basically stuck with passwords and not just any old passwords bUT complicated ones that have to be changed every 90 days. Yeah, it sucks.

That's the trouble - I do NOT have any customer credit card info in my file and it still happened (on its own!)

You don't want to uninstall and reinstall the QB program to address an issue that is in one company's data file. You cannot delete a customer if there has been activity for that name. You can remove the credit card info, but that might not release the new Security requirement.

I removed the credit card info but no luck! Btw - even if one removes the cc info, the cc expiry date will not go away (?)

We are so small we do not accept credit cards but we still had to create a password.  How do i get rid of it?  I don't want to have to type it everytime I open QB.

Having your own EIN in Company Info is enough to trigger the security requirement.
