I have a current payroll subscription and switched from QB Desktop to QB Online. Do I have to start a new payroll subscription, or can my existing one transfer over?

I'm here to answer your query about transferring your payroll subscription switching from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online,

When transitioning from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO), the payroll subscriptions are often different between the two platforms, so your existing QBDT payroll plan will not directly transfer over.

Therefore, you will need to subscribe to a new payroll plan within your QBO account. Furthermore, I suggest that you cancel your existing payroll subscription in your QBDT so you don't get charged for a service you're no longer using.
