I have Quickbooks desktop 2018 multi user I need to remove one user and add another any advice?

HI I have Quickbooks 2018 multi user and my old bookeeper moved away with the other version. I need to add a new user. Anyone know how?

Welcome and thank you for posting here in the Community, @GW8.

 

I'm here to help you add and remove user in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

 

You can add and delete users under the Users and Roles page. Let me show you how.

 

To remove a user:

 

  1. Go to Company at the top menu bar.
  2. Select Users.
  3. Click on Set up Users and Roles.
  4. Go to User List.
  5. To remove an old user, select the user's name and click Delete.
  6. Click Yes to continue.

 

To add a new user:

 

  1. Click New under the Users and Roles page.
  2. Select a username for the new user.
  3. Enter and confirm your password.
  4. Select roles for that specific user.
  5. Click OK.

Thanks  for your help. Next step is how do I download the desktop software for the other user.  Do I need to buy another license?

No need for another license.  Download your version from Download QB, install on the additional computer, configure for multi users (make sure all users' QBs are pointed to the correct file location), then uninstall from the previous user's computer.

well I contacted quickbooks and they told me i needed to buy another license. Sold it to me for $299 sent me a download link and I cant get the files to sync. It is saying that the password is incorrect. It is the same password I am using on this device and it works. 

It also does not say multi user as it does on this version.
