Question

I have successfully imported my husband's business mileage, but it is not showing up on any expense reports. How can I fix this?

On the Mileage page it shows the Potential Deduction for 2022, but on expense reports it shows zero expenses.

Allow me to join you here and answer your question about tracking mileage, tkosburn1990.

 

QuickBooks counts the your recorded business miles to calculate your potential deduction. This is because the program uses the standard mileage method. This means that QBO will multiply the total number of miles by the current rate per mile. This is also the reason why you see a potential deduction for 2022.

 

However, they will not be shown in the in the Expense section since they're not actual expenses. Amounts in the expense section come from actual transactions that are recorded as expenses, checks, bill payments, and journal entries. Thank you for the information. I was hoping to easily generate a Profit and Loss report that included the calculated mileage deduction, because I am often required to show this information for various financial assistance applications. Is this something I will have to continue to do manually outside of QuickBooks Online? Or would QuickBooks Self Employed do this automatically for me?
