Question

I just switched from Desktop Premier Plus Professional Services 2022 to Quickbooks Online. I need to run a Professional Servies Report for Billed vs. Proposal by Project.

Can you still run your QB Desktop? You can generate reports on it. You can use the trial version to access your historical data for good if required. As I know, you can't convert project data to QB Online directly. You will have to enable the Project feature in QBO Plus or Advanced and manually tag your existing data in every project.

Welcome to the community, Kim257.

The "Jobs" feature in QBO has been replaced with "Projects." If you switch from QBDT to QBO, your current job-related data will be migrated as projects, and you won't lose any of this valuable information. The job numbers you've been using in QBDT will be carried over as projects and recognized as such. All the related costings, invoices, and other associated data will also be preserved and linked to their respective projects.

In the same way you have been able to analyze jobs in QB Desktop, you will be able to do the same with your projects' profitability. Your data should stay accessible and undamaged in the new online environment thanks to the procedures developed to secure the transfer.

Moreover, while the terminology has changed from "Jobs" to "Projects," the core functionality and purpose remain the same. To help you efficiently manage and track your business activities and their financial impact.

We want to make sure, that you have a subscription for Plus or Advance so that you can have this feature for QuickBooks Online. The Project feature is turned on every time you convert or merge a sub-customer to an existing project.

Here’s how:

1. Choose  Settings ⚙, then choose Account and Settings.

2. Go to the Advanced tab.

3. Find the Projects section and choose Edit ✎ to expand it.

4. Choose the Organize all job-related activity in one place checkbox.

5. Choose Save and close your settings.

When the report is going to be run Select the Customers' Estimate report.

Furthermore, you might find these guides helpful for instructions on importing your data into QBO and understanding the types of transactions you can migrate:
