Question

I'm using QBO and I want to run a P&L Detail to show all of the transactions in each category but I don't see a detail option anywhere. Am I missing it?

I'll share some information about running reports, heckelfam70.

Depending on your QuickBooks Online subscription, the Profit & Loss Detail report is available on Essential, Plus and Advanced. You might have subscribe to Simple Start that's why your unable to run this specific report.

If you want to see all financial reports, you may consider upgrading your subscription. Alternatively, run the Profit and Loss Report and click the amount to display all of the transactions.

Here's how:

  1. Go the Reports menu.
  2. Select Profit and Loss report.
  3. Set the correct date range.
  4. Hit Run report.
  5. Hover your mouse to the account you’re working on and click on the amount to show the transaction details.
  6. Next, copy all the entries and transfer them to a spreadsheet to keep a copy.

If you aren't using the Simple Start version, open QBO in private browsing or incognito mode. Private browsing doesn't retain local files or cache, thus this is to see if the issue is with a particular webpage.

  • For Google Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox, press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari, press Command + Shift + N

If it works, try clearing the cache in your default browser to start over. The following link will show you how to do this task: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.

I've added an article to help you build and personalize your reports. It also includes a video for visual aids: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
