Question

I made a purchase and reported it as an expense like usual and then I returned the item and received a refund. How do I report that in the QuickBooks app on my iPhone?

Hello, @blakemoorer.

As of this time, the ability to record your vendor refund using the QuickBooks Online mobile app is not available. However, you can use the built-in Safari browser on your iPhone to log in to your QuickBooks Online account.

Then, you can create a vendor credit then deposit the money you've received for the refund.

  1. Go to the +New icon.
  2. Select Vendor Credit.
  3. In the Vendor drop-down menu, select your vendor.
  4. Enter the Category details or Item details.
  5. Select Save and close.

Once done, you can now proceed with these steps to deposit the amount of the credit. Here's how:

  1. Click the +New button on the left panel.
  2. Select Bank Deposit under Other.
  3. Select the appropriate account.
  4. Under the Add funds to this deposit section, select the name of the vendor in the Receives From column.
  5. In the Account column, click the drop-down arrow and choose Account Payable.
  6. Enter the return amount in the Amount column.
