Question

I need to run a profit and loss report from last year (2021) for my taxes. I kept records of this but when I run the report it comes up with nothing? Any advice?

Let me provide some troubleshooting steps to retrieve your 2021 data when running the Profit and Loss report, scottrobertson-m.

It could be a browser-related issue and you'll want to retrieve your data by clearing the cache and cookies. Follow the steps to clear the cache for your browser.

After clearing the cache, make sure to restart your browser for changes to take effect. To have the best and most secure experience with QuickBooks, use a supported, up-to-date browser.

Then, log into your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account and run again the Profit and Loss report. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and select Profit and loss.
  2. Click View, then select the amount of the category to view its transactions.

You also have the option to modify this report by clicking the Business, Account, and Dates drop-down.

If there are no records, you'll want to check if there are entries for 2021 through the Transactions tab. Records reported on the Profit and Loss report are coming from the transactions downloaded from your bank account.

Here's a sample screenshot for your visual guide.

If there are no entries for 2021 through the Transactions tab, then the bank account may have been disconnected. You can check this again or import transactions from the bank when needed.

Here are some articles where you can get additional information about handling transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Keep me posted if there's anything else I can help you with accessing the Profit and Loss report. I'm always right here to guide you.
