Question

I posted time activity. It shows in project cost but it does not show in GL. How do I setup time activity so the cost will go to corresponding GL account? Thank you!

Thanks for checking in with us, tess-martin-reso.

A General Ledger report in QuickBooks Online (QBO) shows a list of transactions from all accounts for a specific date range. Examples of these accounts include asset accounts such as Cash, Accounts Receivable, Equity, and Undeposited Funds. With regards to your concern, there's no need to set up the time activity, instead, we can set up the item correctly in the Product Information.

The time activity will not show once you add an invoice, however, only the billable items will reflect in General Ledger. Also, the moment you add the time activity in the transaction and you paid it, that's the time it will affect the costs and show in the General Ledger report.

To turn on and set up time tracking in QBO Essentials, Plus, and Advanced, see the How to turn on and set up time tracking article. We can use this feature to track and bill customers for the number of hours consumed in a project or activity. Feel free to visit our Financial reports page for more insights about managing your balance sheet and profit and loss reports.

I'll be right here to continue helping if you have any other concerns or questions about QuickBooks. Assistance is just a post away. Take care always.
