I simply want to change the order of the rows and the columns of the reports. How do I move them?

Glad you came here, userjmem4g.

I can walk you through the steps of arranging the order of rows and columns of your reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Here's how you do it:

  1. Choose a report from the Reports tab and open it. (In the screenshot, I run the Profit and Loss report).
  2. Click the Customize option.
  3. Scroll down to Rows/Columns. Under Select and reorder columns, check the boxes for the rows and columns you want to include in the report.
  4. Change the order of the rows/columns by hovering your mouse to one of them and dragging it up or down.
  5. Select Run report.

Here's an article made handy about modifying columns on the report: Customize and modify columns on reports.

I also have some additional articles about managing a wide range of reports in QBO:

this did not help at all

on my balance Sheet I have 4 checking accounts >> docks, picnic, POA, social

QB has them in alpha order and I want them differently - I just want to change the order of the rows, nothing else

same is true on my income statement >> I want to reorder my columns and also my rows

QB seems 'stuck' on an alpha approach

Thanks for getting back to us, @userjmem4g,

I can share some more information about the Balance Sheet report in QuickBooks Online. The default sorting of the accounts shown on the report is set alphabetically, which is what you're seeing.

The option to rearrange the order of the rows or columns is currently unavailable at the moment. However, you can do this by exporting the report into a worksheet to get the sorting you need. Just click the Export icon to transfer the information in Excel.
