Question

I use Quickbooks online at a dealership. Each vehicle is entered as a Inventory Item by VIN#. How can I generate a Report listing only vehicles that are for sale?

I want only the In-stock vehicles with description and price. If someone asks "what do you have for sale?," I want a pre-printed list to refer to.

You're in the right direction of being guided on what inventory report to keep track of what's on hand, jim.

In QuickBooks, we can pull up the Inventory Valuation Summary report which displays the quantity on hand, asset value, and average cost. However, the report doesn't have the option to display a description. Another thing is that the asset value is posted in total rather than the value of each available item.

Moreover, the Inventory Valuation Detail report displays way more detail than the previous one. This report includes an option to display the description, transactions for each inventory item, and how they affect quantity on hand, value, and cost.

To draw up these reports, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. In the search bar, type in the Inventory Valuation Summary or Inventory Valuation Detail report.
  3. Click the Customize button to personalize the data set forth.
  4. After that, hit the Run Report button.

I'll also add this article for your reference when customizing this. You can scroll down to the bottom and refer to Customize your Reports section: Use reports to see your sales and inventory status in QuickBooks Online.
