Question

I’ve noticed that my categories have vanished when I am trying to update my transactions. Is this part of an update on the app

I'm glad to have you join this forum, gus10. I've got detailed input to help you manage and categorize financial transactions in your online app.

Beforehand, may I know if you're encountering this issue on an Android or iOS device? Were there any other errors received while updating your entries? Any additional information would be much appreciated.

The categories that had disappeared when managing your transactions aren't part of an update on the app. Sometimes, unusual behaviors like this have caused data damage or stored cached files in your QuickBooks app. To help you with the troubleshooting steps, let's reset the app data to refresh your device and set it to its default state. You can refer to these steps:

For iOS

  1. Go to Settings and tap General.
  2. Click iPhone Storage, then select the QuickBooks Online app.
  3. Tap Offload App. This will free up the storage without deleting your app's documents and data.

For Android

  1. Go to the Menu ☰ icon and tap More Options ⋮.
  2. Click on Settings, then Refresh Data.
  3. Select YES to confirm.

Once done, re-open the app and log back into your account. Here’s an article that will guide you on how to get the most up-to-date information in QBO: See your latest data in the QuickBooks Online app.

However, if the same thing happens, I recommend utilizing the web browser available on your mobile device. This way, you can efficiently continue categorizing your entries.

Furthermore, I'm sharing this reference to help review your accounts to ensure they always match your financial statements: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

I'll keep track on this thread if there's anything else you need additional assistance managing your online transactions. Let me know in the comments below. Stay safe and have a good one.
