I want to change the name of a company in the name list how do I edit the list in QB online?

Hi there, Nancy!

 

You'll want to open each company and change the name in the setting. That's the way to change them.

  1. Select to open a company.
  2. Click the Gear icon and choose Accounts and Settings.
  3. Select Company and click the Company Name section.
  4. Edit the name and click on Save.

These instructions above change the name for the QBO file itself - not how it appears on the accountant list.  I have several companies who have changed their names - ie Funky Petals became Bloomdiggity.  When I want to open the QBO file - I choose Funky Petals because that's how it appears in my client list - and when I open the file the name is Bloomdiggity.  How do I change the name of a company in the client list to reflect the change?

The steps provided above are for changing the business name of a QuickBooks company. To show the changes in your client list, you'll have to edit its display name. Here's how:

 

  1. Sign in to your QBOA account.
  2. Go to the Clients menu.
  3. Locate the appropriate client, then click Edit client from the Action column.
  4. Change the business name, then hit Save.
