Question

I want to generate a list--excel spreadsheet--of customers with their associated sales tax. I do not want it to say "based on location". Would like to see the county.

Warm greetings, Thuvler. I'm here to help you achieve your desired outcome, which is to get the list of customer with their associated sales taxes and see each county.

Before anything else, please know there's no direct option to see the county column in the reports. You can export the Taxable Sales Detail and Customer Contact List as a workaround and then consolidate the two outside QuickBooks.

To generate a Taxable Sales Detail Report:

  1. Go to Reports, then enter the Taxable Sales Detail in the search section.
  2. Click Switch to classic view, and click Customize.
  3. In the Report period dropdown, set your preferred date range.
  4. Hover to the Change columns, and tick the Tax NameTax Amount, and Taxable Amount.
  5. Click the Export icon, select Export to Excel

To pull up the Customer Contact List report:

  1. Hover to Reports, then enter the Customer Contact List in the search section.
  2. Click Switch to classic view, and click Customize.
  3. In the Report period dropdown, set your preferred date range.
  4. Click the Export icon, select Export to Excel

Now, we can manually consolidate the reports and manually change columns according to your needs and preferences.

Moreover, I'll be adding articles that will help you understand how QuickBooks computes sales taxes and how you can generate a report that displays your non-taxable and taxable sales.

You're always free to reply below if you need further assistance regarding sales taxes or reports in QuickBooks. I'm always here for you, Thuvler. Have a good one!
