Question

I want to only see the Parent Customer or Sub customer not all jobs for each, on the Customer List. Is there a way to view only the hierarchical level that I need for each Customer?

Hi, renegleason. I understand your need to only show the parent and sub-customers in the hierarchical view.

By default, QuickBooks will list all parents and sub-customers together with each job. I've got two options you may consider doing to achieve your goal.

To only display the parent and sub-customers, you may either create a customized Customer Contact List report. Or make the job inactive.

  1. From the Reports menu, select Customers and Receivables.
  2. Choose Customer Contact List.
  3. Click on Customize Report, then proceed to the Filters tab.
  4. Choose Multiple customers/jobs.
  5. Select only the parent and sub-customers you want to see on the report.
  6. Hit OK.

To make the Customer/Job inactive:

  1. Go to the Customer Center.
  2. Select the Customer/Job to open their profile.
  3. At the left-side bottom of the window, put a checkmark on the Customer is inactive checkbox.
  4. Click Yes to confirm.

You may also want to run and customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop. This will help you view all your sales transactions for each customer.

Any further needs, please let me know. I'll still be available to assist.
