Question

I want to remove an Inactive Account so it no longer appears on my Account list. Is there any way to do this?

You can try using a deleter tool, unless there is historical data associated with it.

I am delighted to have you here, @parks 12.

The option to permanently delete the accounts in the Chart of Accounts (COA) is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Right now, the only way we can eliminate unusable accounts is to make them inactive in your account list. This is designed to keep your previous transactions under this account accessible for reporting purposes. Making this inactive helps lessen the usage and gives space to new accounts in your company file.

Browse this article for more information about making accounts inactive on your COA. Also, learn when to make them inactive and vice versa: Make an account inactive on your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online

Furthermore, get equipped by learning more about COA. It enables you to use the correct accounts to track your financial information and provide better insights into your business.

There is a way but with a limitation as I mentioned earlier.
