I wanted to inquire about a loss of functionality when viewing reports in QB online. When I filter by name, I am no longer able to see journal entries.

Allow me to share some information about running reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO)

In QuickBooks, when you filter Group by Name, the Journal Entry (JE) will show under the not specified. Since the names entered in the JE are for a specific line of entry only. 

Can you share with me what reports are you trying to pull up? Any information will help us provide the best resolution for your inquiry. 

In the meantime, you may consider running the Transaction Detail by Vendor report to view the Journal Entry. Ensure to filter the correct Date and the Transaction Type.
