Allow me to share some insights into importing your data from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO), vintageslots.

Importing your data requires several steps to ensure your information migrates properly. Since your QBDT trial account has already expired, you'll need to reactivate it. You can also create a backup file to secure a copy of your company's data.

To reactivate your account, I suggest to get in touch with our Support team for guidance.

Once your account is already reactivated, here's how you can move your data:

In QuickBooks Desktop Pro or Premier:

  1. Get your desktop file ready
  2. Sign in as an admin.
  3. Go to Company, then select Export Your Company File to QuickBooks Online.
  4. Select Get Started.
  5. Sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Online company.
  6. Select Choose an online company, and choose the company you want to replace with your company file.
  7. Select Continue.
  8. If you track inventory in QuickBooks Desktop, you can select Yes to bring them over, then enter the as-of-date. If not, select No if you want to set up new items later in QBO.
  9. Enter Agree in the text field, then select Replace.
  10. Select Yes, go ahead and replace the data, then select Replace

If you are using QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise or QuickBooks Desktop for MAC you can refer to this article for more detailed steps: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

Once you're done with the migration you can cancel your QuickBooks Desktop account. However, you can carry on with your account without having to follow the steps above and stop utilizing your QBO account.

In addition, I'm sharing this article to guide you on how to get started with QuickBooks Online: Get started and adjust settings after you sign up for QuickBooks Online

Thank you, I will contact support to try and get desktop (which I would rather use anyway) so I can export and then import the data.

It sucks that I just cannot import the quickbooks data file that desktop saved.

@vintageslots

Which QB Desktop year version did you try? You can still purchase QB Desktop 2024 for Mac

You can call their Sales team to purchase it. If they refused to help, you can purchase it thru selected partners (tax exempt, can get $100 cashback).

@vintageslots

Which QB Desktop year version did you try?

You want to stay with QB Desktop or use QB Online? They are 2 different products.

I would rather stay with desktop but the link that came up in desktop (Mac) took me to online and it looked like there was no way to continue with desktop.
