If I have a cleaning service, & add an additional home belonging to an existing client. How do I record a cleaning done at their 2nd house? Two separate entities?

I clean both houses, usually on different dates, and want to ensure I record which home I cleaned correctly.

Hi there, @stephanie-marrer.

I'm here to share details about recording services rendered to a client/customer in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Based on the information you've shared above, you can create the additional home as a sub-customer under your top-level customers (also known as parent customers). This way, you can easily track which home you've cleaned.

While you can have unlimited sub-customers, parent accounts can only have sub-customers up to four levels deep.

If you haven't created a parent customer yet, here's how to do it:

  1. In QBO, go to the Get paid & pay or Sales menu at the left pane, then Customers.
  2. Select New Customer.
  3. Enter the necessary information in the desired fields.
  4. Hit Save.

Once done, here's how to add sub-customer:

  1. Go back to the Get paid & pay or Sales menu at the left pane, then Customers.
  2. Click New customer again.
  3. Enter the sub-customer’s name and contact info.
  4. Select the Is a sub-customer checkbox. This action will display a parent customer dropdown menu.
  5. In the Parent customer ▼dropdown, select the parent account.
  6. Review each section and enter any info you need for the sub-customer.
  7. Hit Save to complete.

Once done, you can now choose either the parent or sub-customer when creating an invoice for the service you'll render. For more information about managing customers in QBO, please check out this article: Add and manage customers in QuickBooks Online.
