Question

If I run the export tool from QB Online to QB Desktop can I still use QB Online after that export or will my QB Online data be gone?

I'd like to run some audit procedures in Desktop without corrupting the Online data and also allow the company to continue to operate Online.

Converting data to QB Desktop won't cancel your QBO account. You can use the trial version of QB Desktop to access your data for good if required.

Welcome to the Community, seth17.

When moving QuickBooks Online (QBO) data to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), your QBO data will remain as it is.

If you choose to cancel the account after exporting data to QBDT, you'll have read-only access to your books for one year. Afterwards, you'll have to resubscribe to access the data.

Once you're prepared to export your data with the migration tool, you can follow the steps in our Move your QBO data to QBDT article.

If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a great Wednesday!
