You'll first have to check the sales tax you used for the customer's transaction in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @garysewell. This way, you're able to get the gross sales in the Sales Tax Liability report. Let me guide you how.

The Sales Tax Liability report is a summary of your taxable and non-taxable sales, plus the total sales tax you've collected from customers. Once your customer's transaction is paid, its sales tax details should show on the above-mentioned report. Let's pull up the transaction to determine the sales tax used. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Sales menu.
  2. Select the All Sales tab.
  3. Find the transaction and click it to open its details.
  4. Go to the Select tax rate section to identify the sales tax used. Please see the screenshot below for your reference.

After that, pull up the Sales Tax Liability report again to view the gross sales amount for the specific sales tax. Just click the amount under the Gross Amount column to view its details (i.e., transaction type and tax name). For the detailed steps on how to run the Sales Tax Liability report, you can refer to this article: Check how much sales tax you owe in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, QBO tracks your tax due dates so you can file your sales tax returns and record your payments on time. Whenever you're ready to do so, I'd recommend checking out this article for the step-by-step guide: File and pay your sales tax in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know how it goes in the comments below. If you have other sales tax concerns or inquiries about the Sales Tax Liability report in QBO, I'm just around to help. Take care always.
