Im trying to get my QB 2013 db into QB Self employed, what are the steps?

I found a page to upload a file but I need a pin, where do I get it and is this the 1st step?

I'm new to QB online and I'm doing baby steps.

QBSE is a standalone product and is not the same as QB Online. You can only convert data from QB Desktop to QB Online.

Welcome to the Community, @lrinfl. I'll share some insights about migrating QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Self -Employed (QBSE).

I agree with Fiat Lux - ASIA. The option to migrate from QBDT to QBSE is currently unavailable. Since QBSE is designed for a specific type of business owner like, freelancers and self-employed individuals.

Although, you can manually import transactions into QuickBooks Self-Employed using a CSV file. I'll show you how.

Go to the Profile icon and select Imports.
Click Import transactions.
Follow the onscreen steps to upload the CSV file.
Then select Import.

However, if you're moving from QBDT to QuickBooks Online (QBO). Here's how:

Let's make sure your QuickBooks Desktop is updated to its latest release.
Check if your company file isn’t too big to export.
After that, sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
Navigate to the Company menu, then choose Export Company File to QuickBooks Online.
Select Start your export.
Then, open a browser and sign in as an admin to your QuickBooks Online company.
Choose the QuickBooks Online company you want to be replaced by your company file from the Choose online company menu.
Tick Continue.
Enter the word Agree in the text field, then Replace.
Hit Yes, go ahead and replace the data, then select Replace.

Thanks for the reply's. I have QB pro 2013 which has always been over kill for me. I'm part time self employed with no payroll etc.

Can I use Simple Start or Essentials to import a csv file into? One of those two is what I started to get but saw self employed and was wanting to play with online stuff to see liked it ... thinking it's the same thing just having more features added with each QB plan.

So the question is can I use Simple Start or Essentials to import my a file into?
