Question

Importing old books to QuickBooks Online

Currently my company uses Sage Intacct for books. We also have a third party (Gen II) manage the books for us. We do not have the ability to add anything to the online books. That includes vendors, project codes, accounts names, etc. Gen II does all of that for us.

My company recently wanted to see if it was possible to do the books in house. I see that QuickBooks Online offers a connection with Sage to import the old General Ledger. My question is will Gen II be notified when I give QuickBooks my Sage login information since they are the admin on the account? We're trying to do this in the background so there's no questions in the short term. Thanks.

It's great to have you in the Community, @Kaspo The Accountant. Let me route you to the team that will help you with your notification concern.

I suggest asking the Gen II support team to confirm if they'll be notified when you share the login credentials with QuickBooks. Since we only support queries about QuickBooks, we can't provide a definitive answer on our end.

Additionally, you can refer to this article for an overview of the importing process: Convert from Sage 50 to QuickBooks Online.

Please return to this thread if you have other concerns about the migrating process in QuickBooks Online. We'll be here to lend a hand.

@Kaspo The Accountant

I see that QuickBooks Online offers a connection with Sage to import the old General Ledger.

What do you mean by "a connection"? Do you consider to convert your data completely from Sage Intacct to  QB Online, or else?

Maybe connection wasn't the correct word. From what I gather, from Quickbooks Online, you go to "Import Data". There is an option there for Sage Intacct. The you provide your login information that Quickbooks Online will use to import the info from Sage.

Since our third party bookkeeper is the admin at Sage, will they be notified about Quickbooks Online pulling info from Sage? That's really the question I have.

There is an option there for Sage Intacct.

Which option do you mean? As I know they only offer the conversion from Sage 50. For Sage Intacct, you need to purchase a 3rd party conversion service
