Intuit Account login and Capcha

The Capcha / Recapcha stuff during Intuit login is starting to get ridiculous.  There appears to be no rhyme or reason as to when we'll have to match those poor quality photos to some random topic (seems to always be Motorcycles, Bridges or Stairs).  Again, the quality of the puzzle we're being asked to solve is poor at best.

Coupled with a token-based authentication check (much better than text authentication), the technology is definitely "old school".

How about Intuit invest some of those dollars into certificate based authentication (Passkeys)?

    Jeff, thanks for the detailed reply.  I am well aware of security concerns with online services such as Quickbooks, but my point was that CAPTCHA and reCAPTCHA are ancient methods that are getting harder to use, as many of the pictures are difficult to see.  Perhaps newer technologies exist that work as well.

    I wish the Passkey availability had been advertised to us earlier and with more emphasis.  I've set them up already for my two accounts.

    However, it appears that Intuit's login web page doesn't recognize my "device" (macOS 15.2, running Safari) as a device that is capable of logging in with a Passkey, and still prompts for password and authenticator code.  I use a third party password manager (1Password) that is quite successful logging in with passkeys on other sites.

    I remain hopeful that Intuit will find a way to make this work, as it is a MUCH more secure option.
