Question

Invoice - Screen and Print shows different value for Items

The way QuickBooks Desktop shows item hierarchy on screen is different from how it appears in print preview. On screen, it displays both the parent item and child item (like Parent Item: Child Item), but in print preview, only the child item is shown. The parent item is missing from the print preview.

Please let me know how to resolve this issue.

Hello there, abhishek4. I can share details about the display preferences concerning the items displayed in QuickBooks Desktop. I'm with you in getting past this topic.

There are differences between what is shown on the invoice screen and what is printed on the preview. Some information may show on the invoice screen, however, it doesn't appear on the print preview. Furthermore, there are cases where it will show on the printed preview and doesn't show on the invoice screen.

QuickBooks Desktop strives to enhance the product experience with the newly introduced sales form layouts, and currently, this feature is working as designed within the software.

I've included these articles that will show you how to keep or print PDF files and how to fix matters in case you can’t print, email, or save as a PDF from QuickBooks Desktop:

Following these steps help you resolve the issue with the item hierarchy not displaying correctly when printing invoices from QuickBooks Desktop. Let me know if you have any other questions.

The documentation you have provided does not help. It does not contain information on how to display Item & Sub-Item while printing the invoice. Can you please assist me on this or redirect my query to the correct personnel?
