Question

Is it possible to run a P&L by Month for 3 companies as a Consolidated P&L in spreadsheet sync, for 1/1/24-9/30/24 where the report would show each month separately?

Hello jo-ann-eufrazio-,

Thank you for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community! If you have QuickBooks Online Advance, you can do this by following the steps below.

  1. In the Spreadsheet Sync panel, select Build multi-company reports.
  2. Select the group you want to run the reports for.
  3. Select the report you want to view.
  4. Select Filters to download the data you want from the source.
Note: The filters may vary depending on the type of report.
  5. Run Report to get the data onto your spreadsheet.
  6. Use the spreadsheet’s built in features to create custom charts and graphs with your QuickBooks data.

Please let me know if you have any other questions! My team and I will be happy to help.

I am in spreadsheet sync, have selected company group and profit and loss - multiple periods.  Select filters - there is only a default filter available currently.  Other filters available are cash/accrual and date range.  If I select Jan-Sept, it only shows 1 column for each company, not individual columns for each month which is the info I need.  Hoping you can continue to assist.  Thank you.

I'll add some details so you can consolidate P&L reports by month for three companies, jo-ann.

To consolidate reports for each company, we can export each P&L report to Excel and manually combine each detail. Before exporting, ensure that the reports are filtered correctly within QBO so they show individual columns for each month.

To get started, generate a P&L report in each company and adjust the Report Period and Display columns by dropdown to Months:

  1. Sign in to your company accounts.
  2. Go to the Reports tab.
  3. Search for P&L report.
  4. In the Report Period section, choose the date range from January 1 to September 30, 2024.
  5. In the Display columns by dropdown, select Months.

  6. Click Run Report. Then, Export to Excel or Run report and sync data in Excel to sync/bring the information to your Excel sheet.

Once you've exported each P&L report, you can edit and combine the reports.

Furthermore, you can save the current customization settings of a report so you can use it for future needs.

I'll be around to lend a hand with additional questions about consolidating reports. Have a productive day.
