Question

Is it possible to see what previous accountants did in my account? Like all the way back to 2015 and before?

My bank balances and QB are not matching. I believe this disconnects have to do with the beginning years (2014-2018), not the recent years. I don't know where to start.

Thanks for posting here in the Community space, Kyra. Let me help you match your record in QuickBooks Online (QO) and your bank balances.

To fix matching transaction issues, you can reconcile your account in QBO. This will ensure the accuracy and validity of financial information. To reconcile an account for the first time, review the opening balance. Match the real-life bank account from the first tracking transactions you've made. Follow the steps below to proceed with reconciling an account:

  1. In Settings, go to Reconcile. If this is your first-time reconciling, click Get Started.
  2. Decide what account you want to reconcile from the Account dropdown. Check if it's the same one on your statement.
  3. See if the Beginning balance in QuickBooks matches your statement. If not, here's how.
  4. Put the Ending balance (New Balance or Ending balance) and Ending date of the statement.
  5. Review the Latest statement ending date if you see it. Note that this is the end of the last reconciliation. The current bank statement should start the day after.
  6. Once ready, Start reconciling.

After that, compare your statement with QuickBooks. Visit this link and go to Step 3 to have a guide on how: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

On the other hand, visit this article as your guide in the future if you want to run reports that can help you with your business: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.
