Is there a report that breaks down the labor hours so I can see overtime hours?

It's great to hear from you today, @pcody

You can run the Payroll Summary by Employee report to add the hour and rate columns. QuickBooks calculate overtime based on the Federal and State overtime requirements. The details shown on the report are based on the information entered when you run payroll.

Here's how:

  1. On the left panel, select Reports.
  2. Enter Payroll Summary by Employee in the Find report by the name field.
  3. At the top right, select the Hour and Rate checkbox.
  4. Hit Run Report.

In the Workers' comp column, you can view the overtime hours of the employee. For more details, see the Learn about the report section through this article: Create A Payroll Summary Report

I'm adding this article that walks you through everything you need to know about overtime pay, how to calculate it, and critical mistakes to avoid: How to calculate overtime pay for hourly and salaried employees

Moreover, you can always run other payroll reports to get useful information about your business and employees. Just go to Reports from the left menu. Then, enter a report name in the Search box. To view the list of the payroll reports available in the program, visit this article: Running Payroll Reports

I'll be right here to help if there's anything else you need. Have a great rest of your day, @pcody.

I had thought about that report, but I need it by a specific project.

Thanks for getting back to us, @pcody.

I'll share some information about getting a breakdown of the labor hours. If you're looking to see a specific project's hours, you can use the Time cost by employee or vendor for the project's report.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Projects.
  2. Select the project you want to view the time hour.
  3. Choose the Project Reports tab.
  4. Click the View link in the Time cost by employee or vendor section. Just make sure to tick the boxes next to Start Time and End Time and Break. See the images below.

With the above steps, you're able to identify the overtime time hours for a specific project. Learn more about projects in these guides:
