Question

Is there a way to create a report that has the following columns? Sorted By Customer: Date, Item, Vendor, Memo, Amount

Purchases by Product/Service detail report is close but it doesn't give me the option to group by customer. All I'm trying to do is see my job costs (items) by customer.

Let me help you find a report that can be sorted out, bryan-byrnes-fai.

You have the option to run and customize the Purchases by Product/Service detail report. All the customer's transaction will be listed, and you can add a column for the Vendor, Date, Item, Vendor, Memo, Amount.

Here's how to customize report:

  1. Click Reports on the left pane.
  2. Enter and select Purchases by Product/Service detail in the search box.
  3. Set the date range.
  4. Click the Customize button.
  5. Select Rows/Columns.
  6. Check the box you want to include in the transactions, then click Run report.

From there, add a column for product/service and run the Sales by Product/Service Detail report for reference. Here's an article you can read to learn more about customizing reports in QBO: Customize your reports in QuickBooks Online.

However, having an option to group the customer in report is unavailable. I suggest to export and excel and then edit it. For your reference, you may visit this article: Export your reports to Excel from QuickBooks Online.

You might also want to visit our Reports and accounting page to learn some best practices on managing reports in QBO.

The Transaction List by Customer report can help you show the details you need. Please know that I'm only a post away if you need anything else about QuickBooks Online. Have a great week ahead.
