Question

Item/service type should be displayed in the transaction list.

Hi, I'm working with quickbooks online. I would like to know how I can enter a product or service so that it displays in my transaction list without me have to open the invoice to view the items.

 

I saw one post that the message on statement displays in the memo column in the transaction list which is one step closer to what Im looking for. I would still want this to be easier for me... I should just have to enter the item/product without pasting it again...

 

I would appreciate some expert advice on this...!

It's great to see you here in the Community space. Let me share what I know about the Transaction list in QuickBooks Online.

 

The Transaction List only shows transactions (invoices, sales receipts, bills, expenses, etc.), not the details like the products and services entered as line items. The option to display your products and services in this report type is unavailable.

 

Aside from opening each invoice manually, you can use Detail reports in QuickBooks. Our Sales by Product/Service Detail and Purchases by Product/Service Detail will show items from your invoices (see screenshot below).

 

 

There are columns you can add depending on the information you need. Click the small gear icon within the report and add a checkmark to the boxes you want to show (see additional screenshot below).

 

 

There's a simple way to export your QuickBooks reports and lists to your local hard drive. For more information about the process in the Online version, check out this link: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.
