Question

Looks like Quick Books has messed up sales tax reports etc. This is very frustrating. How do you add or edit sales tax rates?

Hi there, jeanie-mccloud.

I'm glad to see you posting here in the QuickBooks Community to provide you with steps to ensure that you're able to add or edit sales tax rates so your sales tax reports stay accurate.

Since the sales tax reports look like its messed up, I suggest clicking each transaction from the Sales Customer Detail report. Then, you'll have the option to edit or add the sales tax rate associated with the entry. You also have the opportunity to see all the city sales tax lists from there.

Here's how:

  1. Choose the transaction in the report and click it to expand the page.
  2. Go to the Taxable subtotal drop-down list and choose or edit the sales tax.
  3. Hit Save.

Once everything is good, you can now file your sales tax return and record your tax payment in QuickBooks Online. You can refer to this article to see the detailed steps on how to perform the process: File your sales tax return and record tax payment in QuickBooks Online.
