Question

My client sent my 1099 to me via email and when I click the link it takes me to a blank page. All of the support docs say to visit the client tab or the documents tab, neither of which I have. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

A browser-related issue might have caused the unusual response, designer22.

Before we start, let's ensure that your client invited you to view your tax forms. Once they've sent an invite, you can click that link. Then, follow these steps on how to view your forms.

  1. Go to the Clients menu.
  2. Select the client and select Tax forms.
  3. You'll see your 1099 there which you can view and download.

However, if you're already invited and you get the same thing, you can perform a few browser troubleshooting steps. The regular browser stores cache files and when it's not removed it can cause unexpected behavior. You can verify it by access your email through a private browser. To open one, you can use these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

If you're able to log in to the account, you can switch back to the main browser and clear the cache. You can alternatively use other supported browsers to log in.

You can open this link to help you in managing your 1099s and how your clients can send you an invite: Fill out a W-9 and view your 1099-MISC in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Let me know how this works. I'm just around the corner to help. Take care!
