Hello, Just a random question, what will be the best way to go about just one-time customers? We have walk-in customers that we only do one job, and we have customers that we work them all of the time. My list of customers is growing quite a bit because of those one-time customers and if delete those one-time customers those invoices will be deleted. How can I go about those one-time customers in QBO so I don't need to implement all of their info, and for my customers list doesn't keep growing.

I can share some information that can help you with managing your one-time customers, @SG2005.

You can make those one time customers inactive in QuickBooks Online (QBO). It'll be removed from your lists and menus. However, all their invoices or transactions will still be available on reports.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Sales menu and click on Customers.
  2. Select the customer's name to open their profile.
  3. Click the dropdown next to Edit.
  4. Select Make inactive and then confirm by selecting Yes, make inactive.

For more information about adding, editing, merging, or deleting customer profiles, check out this article: Add and manage customers in QuickBooks Online

Once you receive payments, here's how to record it in the account: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online

Probably, set up a customer called "Retail Sale" or something like that, and use them when recording the sale.

You can also record sales receipts with no customer name at all, if desired.
