PAYROLL SERVICE ACCOUNT

Our QB desktop is setup using our previous accountant's payroll services, since they used to run our payroll for us.  We no longer use this accountant, therefore I need to remove their payroll services from our QB and set up a new payroll service.  I recently bought QB 2022 desktop with 1 yr of payroll.  How do I unlink our account's payroll service account and set up our own?

Thanks for your time reaching out to us regarding this payroll concern, @ahoyt.

 

I'm here to help you out with the things you need to do about switching your payroll service from the accountant to the new payroll license.

 

To do this, you only need to remove or edit the service key of your payroll service. Each payroll license have a unique service key for each EIN, so after you activate the new payroll, you will be using a different key than the old service from the accountant.

 

Do not manually remove the service key if you have the following services: 

 

  • Direct Deposit
  • QuickBooks Workforce
  • Workers' Comp
  • QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Assisted service
  • QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Basic/Enhanced with per employee fee

 

We're unable to get your personal information in this forum to protect your data. The best people to help you out setting this up is our phone and chat representatives. I highly recommend contacting us to activate the new payroll and change the service key for you. Otherwise, you will not be able to use the add-on services or transmit payroll data.
