Help! I'm trying to pay an invoice through ACH and am being told my EIN is wrong. I've checked it over and over and I know it's correct. I've tried with the dash and without. I also tried entering it in my Account settings and it won't take it there either. What am I doing wrong?

Hi there, sunshine2022.

This isn’t the kind of experience I want you to have when paying invoices and performing other tasks in QuickBooks Online (QBO). We'll have to run some basic troubleshooting steps to move past the issue. This way, you can pay the invoice via ACH smoothly.

To start, log in to your company via private browsing or incognito mode. This is to test if this is a cache-related issue and prevents you from entering the EIN (Employer Identification Number).

Here's how:

  • Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge - press CTRL + Shift + N.
  • Mozilla Firefox - press CTRL + Shift + P.
  • Safari - press Command + Shift + N.

If you're able to add the EIN smoothly, go back to your regular browser window and clear the cache. Performing this process will remove outdated and corrupted internet files that are causing some minor browsing issues. Otherwise, utilize a supported browser and key in the EIN from there.

I’m adding this reference to help you easily handle any customer-related activities: Self-help articles. The topics include managing invoices, receiving payments, processing refunds, etc.

Stay in touch if you need assistance with paying invoices and performing other QuickBooks tasks. I’m always ready to lend a helping hand. Have a good one.

Thank you for your response! For some reason, even though I was entering the same exact number, it eventually took my EIN. It's almost like there was a lag after I initiated the ability to pay via ACH. Whatever the reason was... it's working now. :)
