QB payroll reset timing

A phone rep informed me that before a payroll account can be deleted and reset, all payroll entries must process and that our payroll subscription should be cancelled before deletion. The thought of deleting either account is paralyzing but especially payroll!

 

I checked into it and we have an automatic federal tax payment that was entered last week scheduled to clear next week on Thursday.  Salaried employees are entered automatically and hourly employees are entered manually every Thursday to pay out via direct deposit on Fridays. If the federal tax payment prohibits me from purging the account until it settles, there would be no time before the next payroll is entered. Am I understanding this correctly? How could I ever delete and reset the account?

If you are paying employees or contractors through Quickbook online every Friday and you submit direct deposits the day before Thursday, but for example Thanksgiving lands on the Thursday and cannot submit that day due to the holidays. I try submitting before, but isn't able to submit as I am over "my limit". Will I be able to submit on Wednesday, so our contractors can received their direct deposit that Friday in the same week? 

 

I need help.

We appreciate you joining the thread, @E27. We'll provide the details you need about paying employees and contractors and what will happen if it falls on a holiday.

 

Before anything else, a thing to consider in a situation like this is your current payroll setup. If you're using the Same day lead time and the payday is on Friday, you'll want to submit payroll before Friday 7:00 AM Pacific Time (PT) so they can have it processed within the day. However, if you're using the Next Day direct deposit lead time, you should've submitted payroll on Thursday before 5:00 PM (PT). You may want to contact your bank to know if they can still process your submission. We'll write down the steps to help you check your lead time:

 

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the top-right corner, click the Gear icon.
  3. Select Payroll settings.
  4. Scroll to the Direct Deposit section. You'll see your funding time above your direct deposit limits.

If it doesn't fall on your preferred payday, you can consider paying them using paper checks, but before doing so, you'll want to change your pay method from Direct deposit to Paper check. In case paycheck hasn't been created, these are the steps:

  1. Go to Payroll, then Employees.
  2. Select Run payroll.
  3. Click the employee’s row.
  4. Below the employee's name, select the ▼ dropdown to switch the pay method to Paper check.
  5. Preview and submit your payroll.
