QBDT 2020- trying to import accountant changes for first time and saved a pdf of the changes to my desktop first. Now it seems the import does not know where to go; it won't proceed, it just wants to save another copy.  Suggestions?

Hello there, @Firefly22

Thanks for visiting the Community today. I've got you some steps to import your accountant's changes in QuickBooks.

Before doing so, make sure to back up your company file so you'll have a copy. If you're using QBDT Enterprise, you'll need to turn off any Advanced Inventory features. Then, turn them back on after you import the changes.

Then, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the File menu, then select Send Company File.
  2. Select Accountant's Copy and then Client Activities.
  3. If your accountant sent you their changes in an Accountant’s Changes file, select Import Accountant Changes from File. Browse your computer for the file. It should have a .qby extension at the end of the filename.
  4. If your accountant used the Accountant's Copy File Transfer Service, then select Import Accountant’s Changes from Web.
  5. Follow the onscreen steps to import their changes.

Once done, review the changes and ensure that their changes don’t conflict with any work you’ve done recently. If you have questions, talk to your accountant before moving on.

Then follow these steps below:

  1. When you’re ready to import their changes, select Incorporate Accountant's Changes. If you don’t, select Close.
  2. Select OK to confirm the changes and close any open windows.
  3. Then select OK and Close again. QuickBooks will create another backup of your company file.
