Welcome to the Community space, @earlcarlindvm1.

It's beneficial to have access to various QuickBooks products in creating the report we want. As of now, the reports you are trying to locate in QuickBooks Online (QBO) are currently unavailable. If you're interested in having a specific feature added, I recommend providing feedback to our product engineers. They are responsible for deciding which features will be added in the future. Follow the steps below to send feedback.

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under the Profile column, select Feedback.
  3. Enter your feedback or suggestions.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Choose Feedback for the category.
  6. Click Send.

You can also use this link to send your feedback: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.

I've attached an article to get the most out of your financial reports: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to leave a comment if you have any further questions about reports or other concerns related to QBO. Have a great day ahead.

I just made the QB Desktop to Online migration and noticed the same thing.

This is unbelievable, and I hope its just a rote answer by an uninformed support agent. To me QB Desktop Reports had one PRIMARY function, to prepare data for import into tax. The Income Tax Detail report is CRITICAL to ensuring I have auditable records and for ensuring that TurboTax correctly imports my data.  I really don't know why to use it otherwise.

In fact what this means if I cannot get this resolved is that for the current tax year I will continue to use my (expired) Quickbook desktop to do my accounting, and take on the risk of something bad happening because I'm using expired software.  Which raises the question of why am I paying 3X more per year for a product I can't use for its primary purpose?

Update:

Spent 1.3 hours on phone with support.  Agent had zero familiarity with the Desktop product, did not know the difference between payroll and income tax, and essentially did not know what I was talking about.  Managed to explore enough screens and reports to realize that there is no workaround that I can customize.

Sent an email detailing this to my sales rep and requested a refund, and he immediately initiated it.

So short term is continue on QB Desktop until wheels fall off and then long term use Excel spreadsheets for tracking accounts and transactions.

Hello and thank you for joining the thread! I understand how crucial it is to access specific income tax reports, especially when preparing to file your returns. You can count on me to provide you with the details you need about the availability of these reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I want to ensure you're able to manage your sales tax data efficiently.

We recognize the relevance of having Income Tax Preparation, Income Tax Summary, and Income Tax Detail reports in QBO. You can run sales tax reports to get an overview of your sales tax details. Please follow the steps below to generate them. Since these particular income tax reports are currently unavailable, this would be an alternative.

  1. On the left navigation panel, click Reports.
  2. In the Standard tab, scroll down to the Sales tax section.
  3. Choose from the three available reports (Sales Tax Liability, Taxable Sales Summary, and Taxable Sales Detail).

For more information about the reports accessible for your version of QBO, please see this article: Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription.

With that, I encourage you to submit this valuable idea to our product engineers for consideration in future updates. They continuously seek to fulfill our customer's needs, and your input is vital in deciding which features will be incorporated in upcoming updates. To send your feedback, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to the Gear icon in the upper right and choose Feedback under Profile.
  3. Type in your recommendation in the Share your feedback field.
  4. Click Next to submit.

Additionally, you have the flexibility to display specific accounts or customers and format the layout to ensure the right data appears in your reports. If you like to learn more about this process, I recommend checking out this article: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online. It will provide you with the insights you need!

How is it after a year plus since being reported this hasn't been addressed.  The SALES TAX reports are going to give the specific INCOME TAX INFORMATION that I've gotten from QUICKBOOKS DESKTOP for 16 years I've been a DESKTOP customer?  Why is this simple strightforward request for those INCOME TAX reports so difficult for QUICKBOOKS ONLINE to address.  I brought this up to multiple times in August and fully expected six months later that I would find these reports.  VERY DISSAPOINTED.  I'll look at what you sent me and try it but I can't believe I'll have to get on the phone with the ONLINE support team again.  ????
