Question

Separating companies into multiple users from a single user login

I am managing three accounts with a single userid and password (first company payroll, first company accounting, second company accounting). I want to have a separate userid for all three of them as ownership is changing for these companies. How do I do that?

Thank you

Let me guide you on how you can separate the user id for all three companies, Arc3790Health.

You can transfer the primary admin role to an existing QuickBooks user. If the person isn’t a QuickBooks user yet, you can add them as a new user. Then, transfer the primary admin role to them after they’re added. Also, you'll have to make sure to sign in as the primary admin to transfer the primary role admin role. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as the current primary admin. If you can’t sign in, you can recover your user ID or password.
  2. Select Settings ⚙.
  3. Select Manage users.
  4. Find the user you want to make the primary admin.
  5. In the User Type column, make sure they are listed as Admin. If they’re not, select Edit to change their role to admin.
  6. Select the small arrow ▼ in the Action section. Then, select Make primary admin.
  7. Select Make primary admin again to confirm the change.
  8. Sign out of QuickBooks.

Once the user gets the invitation email, ask them to select the link and accept the invitation to be the primary admin.

Furthermore. learn how to make changes to your accounts from your Intuit Account Manager. You may want to change your email address, user ID, password, and other information, check out this article for the steps: Reset Or Change Your Login Information For QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Online Account, And QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Drop a comment below if you have further questions about separating your companies into multiple users. I'd be glad to help.

Did this ever get resolved? I am in the same situation with 1 log in and needing to separate out 3 companies under that log in due to a business sale.
