Setting up a new credit card in chart of accounts

I'm trying to set up a new credit card in my chart of accounts.  I select new, I select the category of Bank and Credit Cards.  But the account type drop down selection does not have credit card, only bank accounts.  How do I set it up as a credit card

Hey there, @MichelleW56. 

 

It's great to see a new face here in the Community. Let's work together so that you're able to set up a credit card within your chart of accounts. 

 

When testing it on my side, I have the option for a credit card. Use the steps and visual to help you out below.

 

  1. Go to the Gear (Settings) icon in the top right-hand corner. 
  2. Press the Chart of accounts option under the "Your Company" column. 
  3. Hit the New green button to set up a new account. 
  4. Type in "credit card(s)" or select the credit card icon at the top of the pop page for the "save account under" field. 

 

 

From there, you can enter the rest of the information needed to successfully create the credit card for your QuickBooks Online account. Here's a guide that can assist you with setting up, using, and paying the credit card account.
