Shipping Address Auto-Fill

Quickbooks Online User ~ We NEVER ship anything ~ we are a store that has a point of sale in our business.  However, ever since the update I don't have a choice but to have at least the name in the shipping portion when creating a new customer.  Then I have to physically delete it in an estimate or invoice (and if I don't it yells at me that the tax can't be calculated, etc).  I have gone into the settings and turned the shipping preference off.  I've cleared my cache.  It keeps getting turned back on.  LIke it just reverts and I don't understand this.  I NEED this shipping option to go away.  For my sanity and for the tax purposes.  There is something wrong with this and I am not sure what else to do.

Thanks for posting here, @Floorpro95. I want to ensure you'll be able to get rid of the shipping info when creating transactions for customers in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

To ensure you'll be able to get rid of the Shipping to field when creating invoices or estimates, make sure that this option is disabled. Let me guide you on how:

 

For the old invoice interface:

 

  1. On the Invoice page, select the Gear icon.
  2. Then, in the Choose what you use section, uncheck the Shipping option.
  3. After that refresh the page.

 

For the new invoice interface:

 

  1. Select the Manage icon on the Invoice page.
  2. Next, click Customization.
  3. From there, disable the Ship to option.

 

Then, when creating a customer, you can simply leave the Shipping Address blank and uncheck the Same as billing address box.

 

However, if the same thing happens, you can reach out to our Customer Care team to further investigate the root cause of the issue.

So I have to do this for every customer?  There isn't an umbrella way to stop this?  This seems like a lot of extra work.

Ideally, the shipping preference should remain disabled and not revert to the previous option. Since clearing the cache doesn't work, I recommend switching to a different supported browser.
